Scientific research fundamentally relies on a comprehensive understanding of the existing literature. The research process begins with the formulation of a hypothesis integrated with previous studies, continues with the development of a methodology consistent with theoretical and empirical precedents, and concludes with the interpretation of findings within the context of current knowledge. Therefore, mastery of the literature and the ability to engage with it critically are essential components of producing academically rigorous and original work. Conducting a systematic and well-structured literature review is not merely a preparatory step in the research process but a critical factor that shapes the direction, relevance, and reliability of a study. The effective use of appropriate databases, search strategies, and reference management tools enables researchers to identify gaps, avoid redundancy, and position their work meaningfully within academic discourse. Conversely, an inadequate or superficial literature review may lead to misrepresentation of the findings, repetition of existing studies, misrepresentation of findings, and even unintended plagiarism or ethical concerns. This review article aims to provide a practical framework for conducting effective literature reviews and accessing reliable academic sources.
